Forum of the Special Advisers to the Governor of Cross River State has defended the Otu administration’s 3-year achievements, announcing hundreds of kilometres of new roads and a revamped asset recovery drive.
The Forum gave the achievement breakdown on Monday at the APC Campaign Office, Mutala Muhammed Highway, Calabar during a Sectoral Briefing on Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s Administration scorecard presentation.
Barrister Ekpenyong Akiba, Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties and the forum chairman, opened the briefing with a clear purpose. “The engagement was aimed at updating the public on the progress made by the administration,” he told reporters and praised Governor Otu for “prudent management of state resources” and aggressive asset recovery push.
Akiba stressed a quiet efficiency, noting that many completed projects lacked formal ceremonies. He argued that the administration’s work touched every sector, calling the accomplishments “multi-dimensional.”
“The administration’s accomplishments were multi-dimensional and touched virtually every aspect of governance,” he said.
The infrastructure briefing was led by Raphael Adoga, Special Adviser on Project Monitoring and Evaluation. He laid out a sweeping road construction programme across the state’s three senatorial districts.
Adoga ticked off projects in Calabar, Odukpani, Akamkpa, Ikom, and Ogoja. He said completed work included concrete roads in communities and access roads for rural areas.
He also cited progress on the Obudu International Cargo Airport. “Navigational equipment is already in place, and only a few structural components are left before operational commencement,” Adoga reported.
Public building renovations were also highlighted, including the State Library Complex and the Governor’s Office, now operating on solar power.
In education, the forum maintained that 49 Primary school projects has been completed.
Gilbert Agbor, Special Adviser on Assets Management and Recovery department, offered a detailed account of his team’s mission.
“The department has emerged as a strategic institution focused on recovering lost assets, protecting government property, enhancing revenue generation, and strengthening accountability in public resource management,” Agbor said.
He said the department had conducted reforms, audits, and enforcement actions to “maximise economic benefits” for the state.
The advisers closed by framing their work as a reflection of Governor Otu’s commitment to inclusive development and infrastructure renewal.
They expressed confidence the briefing would “provide clarity on the administration’s performance and address misconceptions surrounding some government projects and programmes.”
Other Advisers who presented brief scorecards of the governor’s milestones included Hon. Peter Egba, Special Adviser on Industry, Nkoyo Otu, Special Adviser, Inter-Party Affairs, Hon. Ada Charles Egwu, Special on Community Relations, and many others.
