Management of StarCross Television has celebrated the station’s 13th anniversary with a courtesy visit to the Cross River State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), appreciating the union for its years of support and partnership.
The Managing Director of StarCross Television, PCS Ogar Osim, made the remarks on Monday during a visit to the Ernest Etim Bassey NUJ Press Centre in Calabar, describing the relationship between the media outfit and the union as cordial and beneficial.
Osim said the anniversary celebration offered an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of journalists and media stakeholders who supported the station from its inception in 2013.
“As we celebrate 13 years of broadcasting, we felt it necessary to visit the NUJ to say thank you for the support and partnership we have enjoyed over the years,” he stated.
He commended the leadership of the union in Cross River State, particularly praising the role of women in media management and leadership.
According to Osim, StarCross Television benefitted immensely from ideas and recommendations made by journalists and members of the Cross-Border Union of Journalists during the station’s early development stage.
Osim recalled the contributions of late journalist Tom Moses, as well as other media professionals, including reporters from AIT and members of the Cross River State Community and Social Development Agency, who offered professional guidance.
He also appreciated the leadership of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star under His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, whom he described as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of StarCross Television.
The MD said the television station had expanded its reach beyond Nigeria through digital broadcasting on YouTube, Facebook and other online platforms, covering audiences across sub-Saharan Africa and beyond.
Responding, Chairman of the Cross River State Council of the NUJ, Comrade Archibong Bassey, congratulated StarCross Television on its milestone, describing the 13-year journey as “a huge achievement worthy of celebration.”
